Katelyn Sinclair is a senior student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, pursuing a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Studio.
Her studies focus in sound and writing, and she produces works primarily for radio. Katelyn uses documentary-based practices in order to investigate human connections to the divine world, the natural world and the man made world. Often times, the process of making a piece is just as, if not more important than the final work itself. The relationships that form and emerge―between both the artist and those individuals interviewed―are an integral part of the way she strives to make a positive impact in the world. The act of broadcasting is another equally important element of her practice, as it allows her to reach a wider audience through a relatively accessible medium.
She is currently working on a documentary for radio that explores the ever-evolving means of communication between deployed military service members and their families.
